Domus Line invites you to design a portable wireless radio transmitter with a circular shape, including a support for wall fixing, which will allow you to control and manage the brightness and colour temperature of connected lighting fixtures through a dedicated receiver. The transmitter shall be easy to install in the home environment and intuitive to use.
Guidelines
For the correct realisation of your proposals, keep into consideration the following guidelines:
Shapes and sizes: the transmitter shall have a circular shape with an external diameter of approximately 70 mm and a maximum thickness of 20 mm.
Style and colours: the remote control transmitter shall have a minimalist and modern style, and be as versatile as possible to adapt to different styles of home environment. For this reason, neutral colours are required.
Transmitter must be perceived as a high-tech product with a high value and communicate a strong sense of reliability.
Elements to be included: the transmitter must have 5 buttons, of which:
- 2 buttons, identified with two symbols to be defined (for example + and - ), for controlling the light intensity and the gradation of the colour temperature of the light. For a more in-depth look at the functions to define the choice of symbols, please refer to the paragraph “How to use”;
- 2 buttons, identified with the symbols < and > (or similar) to control the scenarios that can be obtained by controlling the different groups of lighting fixtures.
- 1 general control button, identified with the ON/OFF symbol and the “easi” logo attached to the Material files to switch all lighting fixtures on or off.
Transmitter must also include:
- a LED light element for feedback purposes, whose colour and intensity will be coordinated with the settings selected via the transmitter; it could have a circular shape and be inserted for example around the ON/OFF button or around the whole perimeter of the remote control, the important thing is that it is clearly visible during use, enhancing its visual feedback;
- a battery compartment for powering the remote control, with an opening battery door, which can hold two AAA batteries;
Moreover, in addition to the remote control transmitter, it must be designed:
- a wall bracket that allows the transmitter to be arranged quickly and easily. For example, the remote control transmitter could be magnetically arranged in the wall bracket.
How to use: the transmitter will be synced by the user with one or more receivers which in turn will control the lighting fixtures in the home.
Pressing the ON/OFF button quickly, will switch on/off all the lighting fixtures connected to the receivers synced with the remote control transmitter, and consequently will switch on/off the integrated light element.
Pressing the + button (or an alternative symbol of your choice) quickly will change the colour temperature gradation of the lighting fixtures from cold (e.g. 6000 K) to warm (e.g. 2700 K).
Subsequent quick presses of the + button (or an alternative symbol of your choice) will reduce the light intensity from the maximum value (100%) to the minimum value (approx. 30%).
Pressing the – button (or an alternative symbol of your choice) quickly will make the same adjustments in reverse sequence.
Pressing the > button (or similar) quickly it will be possible to select fixtures or groups of fixtures (up to a maximum of 3) and then make the adjustments described above.
Pressing the < button (or similar) it will be possible to make reverse function of fixtures and group of them.
Target and where to use: The transmitter is intended for use by private individuals in a dry indoor home environment. It will be sold mainly through the sale of furniture (particularly kitchens).
Production technologies and materials: the remote control transmitter must be manufactured from plastic material using injection moulding technology. The use of glass parts is not permitted. The body can be painted and/or coated. Materials or paints with a particularly soft, non-skid feel are permitted for the finishing.
The symbols for the buttons can be inserted by mould engraving or pad printing.
Logo: You are invited to insert the “easi” logo attached to the Material files on the front side of the transmitter and in particular on the general control button, integrating it as much as possible to the aesthetics of the product. Its maximum size shall be 15 mm in width.
You are free to design the symbols for the buttons, inserting those you consider most suitable for the functions indicated. They can be inserted either by moulding or pad printing.
Deliverables: upload all the images that best represent your designs (rendering, descriptions, CAD files, etc.) Attach the 3D files in .STP/.IGS format, or compatible with the Solid Edge software in a .ZIP archive, in which you can provide further useful materials for the evaluation.
Evaluation criteria: in the evaluation of your submissions Domus Line will take into account the following criteria:
Aesthetics 5/5
Functionality/usability 5/5
Technical feasibility 4/5
Economic sustainability 4/5
Emotional impact 3/5
