Biography
Ute Wolff was born and raised in Erfurt, East Germany. In 1999, she obtained a master's degree in textile design from the University of Art and Design Halle in Germany. She then worked there as an artistic and scientific collaborator until 2004.

Since 2000, her work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Japan.

Based in Montreal since 2005, she pursues a hybrid practice in art, design and craft . She creates expressive works, limited-edition lighting and small utilitarian design objects.

Ute Wolff has been awarded the "Wilhelm Lorch Foundation" prize, the "Bavarian State Prize" and special jury mentions for the "Swiss Design Prize" and the "Saxon State Prize". In Montreal, she was a finalist for the creation of the trophy for the "Arts et Affaires" prize, and her lighting collections were awarded the "Prix INTÉRIEURS FERDIE" (now the "Grand Prix du Design") in 2007 and 2010.

From 2006 to 2010, she taught in the Textile Construction department at the Maison des métiers d'art de Québec.

In 2020, she co-founded Farbensens, which seeks to revitalize natural dyeing in Quebec.

2022 and 2023 she has the honour of serving as a jury member for the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas of the Prix du Québec.
