Yiannis Siotis is a jewellery artist born in Athens at 1975. Begun his carrier at 1995 at Kessaris workshop as an apprentice but soon his passion started to move him forward for further exploration in the fields of jewellery, thus in parallel he worked with fashion designer M.Mastori, in various fashion jewellery projects. In 2002 he attended a BA (HONS) course in silver/goldsmithing and jewellery design at Kent Institute of Art and Design (UK), which he graduated at 2005. At the summer of this year, he participated at a sort course leaded by Robert Smit(Communicating with the materials), in Alchimia Contemporary School of Jewellery in Florence. At the same year he followed an MA course in 3D Design at U.C.C.A.(University College for the Creative Arts) researching the applications of old fashioned techniques assisted by the new technologies and materials, and how that can be an asset for the designer for unique and soulful achievements.
In 2007 returned to Greece, and worked with various one-off item commissions and personal projects to the present time. He is keen to the old combined with the new, to balance the forms with straight lines and curves, the use of contrast and the colors. His visual inspiration mainly comes from everyday shapes mixed with memories.
